Difficulty of School Signage Design

South Oil Elementary School, as a larger school, presents a variety of signage design challenges. First, the buildings and facilities on campus are spread out, and students and visitors may have difficulty finding specific locations. Secondly, there is a high traffic flow within the school, especially during peak school hours, and an efficient signage system is needed to ensure a smooth flow of people and vehicles. In addition, elementary school students have limited cognitive and comprehension skills, and the signage design needs to be simple, clear and easy to recognize.

Installation and Design Considerations

Since most of the users are elementary school students, we used simple and clear icons and text to ensure the clarity of the message. At the same time, we used high-contrast colors to enhance the visibility of the sign. The installation of school signs requires special attention to safety. We chose non-toxic, environmentally friendly materials and ensured that the edges of the signs were rounded to avoid harming students. We rationalize the placement of the signs according to the height and eye level of the students to ensure that they can easily see and understand the content of the signs. At the same time, we also considered the needs of parents and visitors by designing signs with different heights and viewing angles.

Project Design

First, we had a detailed communication with the school authority of Nanyu Primary School to understand the specific needs and expectations of the school. Based on these needs, we developed a detailed design program. Based on the needs analysis, we conducted a preliminary design. A variety of design sketches were produced, and several communications and confirmations were made with the school authorities to ensure the feasibility and practicability of the design solutions. After the preliminary design was confirmed, we refined the design, including the specific size, color, font and other details of the sign. At the same time, we also considered the practicality of the installation of the signs to ensure that the installation process can be carried out smoothly. After the design was confirmed, we carried out the production and installation of the signs.
