ZIGO sign-From structural elements to a unified whole, these four points must be noted in the design of signage wayfinding systems!

The design work of signage involves environmental background, usage, manufacturing conditions, and other factors. Maintaining communication between design, manufacturing, and usage is essential to actively address various issues that may arise in the actual production of identification. Many differences between design drawings and signage products arise during these processes. In order to reduce design errors and improve the accuracy of signage manufacturing, designers and owners must participate in the production and installation process. So, design work does not end with providing drawings, and the design phase can usually be divided into three stages, which are:

1. Guided design planning

2. Design deepening

3. Final construction plan

Although signage signs tend to have a single flat structure, in order to form this structure, it is also necessary to combine different structural elements reasonably and cleverly. In the design of identification signs, the structural elements are roughly divided into four parts: patterns, text, measurement units, and colors.

1、 Pattern

Pattern is one of the most well-known structural elements in identification systems, which can efficiently and concisely convey a variety of information to users. At the same time, patterns are beyond language, and regardless of whether the user is proficient in the local language, the patterns on the sign can assist them in understanding the content on the sign. Currently, the patterns applied on identification signs generally include trademark patterns, symbolic patterns, and decorative patterns.

2、 Text

The text on the identification sign plays an important role in prompting, transmitting instructions, and stating content. It is the main part of the content of the identification sign, and has a profound impact on both time and breadth of use.

Therefore, whether the font is appropriate and the wording is correct not only reflects the cultural level of a company or region, but also reflects the attitude of the manufacturer towards the product. In addition, whether the font size is appropriate, whether the matching is appropriate, and whether the process is reasonable are all key points that need to be carefully considered in the design and production process of identification signs.

3、 Measurement unit

In the process of designing and producing identification signs, strictly adhering to the requirements of the International System of Units can reduce the problems caused by size errors, such as inability to install or unsatisfactory installation results. From another perspective, strict size regulations can also reduce the frequency of modifications and rework, and improve the work efficiency of enterprises.

4、 Color

For the design of identification systems, color is one of the most important forms of expression. It is not only closely related to the ideas that designers want to convey, but also brings users a different psychological experience. Through color, it can create a different atmosphere of identification to express the personality of the entire space.

Designers can now use over 350 colors, so they need to have in-depth research and experience in various colors and color combinations in order to maximize the role of colors in the identification system.

Signage guidance, as a part of culture, not only has functions such as guidance and explanation, but it is also an important part of environmental layout, as well as an important component of creating style and shaping culture.
